Exchange rate used: $1 US = $7.76HK. Tuition and Fees are subject to change.

Upon acceptance, CUHK will bill you for an Administrative fee (HK$1050), a visa fee (HK$530) and a hostel deposit (HK$1000), about US$350.  This bill will be sent to you about 8 weeks before the start of the program and is due within 2 weeks of issue. Your visa process won't be started until payment and your documents are received. Upon arrival, CUHK will bill you for caution money (a deposit for using campus facilities, paid by credit card authorization, which won't be charged unless students leave outstanding fees at the end of the program), and hostel and related fees.

Housing Fee:  Students share a double or triple with local CUHK students.  The fee listed above includes the hostel fee, hostel related fee, hostel deposit (refundable, if you leave your room in good condition) and air-conditioning expenses.

Meals:  There is no formal meal plan.  Students buy meals out-of-pocket in campus cafeterias or nearby restaurants.

Health Insurance:  CUHK does not offer health insurance; students must be covered by a policy from their home country. The UMass International Travel Insurance policy that is provided to all UMass students meets CUHK requirements. Proof of insurance coverage will be required upon arrival at CUHK. Students can utilize CUHK health care facilities at discounted rates. See CUHK's webpage, "Health and Insurance" for more information. You must also remain enrolled in whatever health insurance plan you now carry through your study abroad period, and until you re-enroll at UMass/Amherst after your return.  Please visit "Health & Safety" on the IPO website for information regarding health insurance including the UMass emergency insurance policy.

Ground Transportation to Program Site:  estimate for cost of travel to and from the airport to CUHK, on arrival and departure.

Visa/Residence Fees:  CUHK will apply for a student visa on your behalf based on the information you submit to them, and bill you for the visa fee (HK$530).  When the visa sticker is ready, they will mail it to you directly at your home address, and then you place it into your passport, ready to go when you check in for your departure flight.  You do not need to go to the Chinese Consulate to apply for your visa; DO NOT apply directly to the Hong Kong Immigration Department.

Passport Fees:  This is for students who are applying for a passport for the first time.

Local Transportation:  Estimate for getting around Hong Kong and Shatin area.

Miscellaneous is the Administrative Fee of HK$1050.
