Yonsei University 2018-2019 Budget Details:

Visa/Residence Fees:  U.S. citizens must pay $45 for a multiple-entry student visa. NOTE: You will also be required to show proof of funds sufficient to cover your living expenses when you apply for your visa. A bank statement showing approximately $5000 for semester students or $10,000 for full year students is sufficient.

Passport Fees:  $135 for US Passport, new or renewals. Students who are applying for their passport for the first time or for a renewal passport can expect to pay application costs and cost of photos.

Health & Liability Insurance:  This total is based on the UMass Student Health Benefit Plan fees. Yonsei does not offer health insurance; students must be covered by a policy from their home country.  Proof of insurance coverage will be required upon acceptance to Yonsei.  The UMass International Travel Insurance policy that is provided to all UMass students meets Yonsei requirements. Be sure to check with your current insurance provider about whether they cover medical costs incurred abroad; the UMass student health plan does cover expenses incurred abroad. You must also remain enrolled in whatever health insurance plan you now carry through your study abroad period, and until you re-enroll at UMass/Amherst after your return.  Please visit "Health & Safety" on the IPO website for information regarding health insurance and for information about the UMass travel emergency and accident insurance policy.

Housing:  Fee listed is for a double room at SK Global House.  A deposit of about US $88 must be paid by wire transfer about 1 month before the start of the semester. Yonsei will bill you directly for all housing costs.

Meals:  There is no formal meal plan.  Students buy meals out-of-pocket in campus cafeterias or nearby restaurants.

Local Transportation:  This is an estimate of what you will need to take buses and the metro around Seoul, and an estimate for cost of travel to and from the airport to Yonsei, on arrival and departure. Yonsei does not organize airport pickup. See Yonsei's "Transportation" page for more details on how to get to the main (Sinchon) campus.

Personal Expenses:  This is an estimate for laundry, cellphone, toiletries, clothing, social/leisure, personal travel, etc.
