Queen Margaret University (QMU) has a total student population of around 5,000 students. Around 18% of students are international from over 65 countries. QMU’s small size ensures a friendly atmosphere and a strong sense of community, allowing students to settle in quickly and easily access a network of support services. Location

QMU is located in Musselburgh, which is six miles east of the Edinburgh city center--about a 10 minute train raide. Edinburgh is Scotland’s capital city and is located in the south-east of the country. Edinburgh is frequently voted as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and one of the best places to live in the UK. The city has a population of around 500,000, of whom around 10% are students studying in its four universities and numerous colleges. Edinburgh is compact and very easy to get around on foot or by using the excellent public transport system. The city has excellent road, rail and air transport links making it easily accessible from all major cities in the UK and beyond and allowing you to explore other parts of Scotland, the UK and Europe. For more information on Edinburgh visit www.edinburgh.org

The available areas of study open to exchange/visiting students include: International Hospitality & Tourism Management, Events Management, Business Management, Film & Media, Media,  Public Relations & Media. Public Relations, Marketing & Events, Drama & PerformancePsychology, Public Sociology, and Physical Activity, Health and Wellbeing. Note that taking modules (classes) in health sciences is generally not possible due to placements as part of the courses. However, Human Biology, Nutrition, and Applied Pharmacology may be possible. Within the drama courses, only modules in Drama and Performance are available. Please contact Stacy Lutsch, the advisor for programs in the UK, if you would like to know which modules are running in a specific semester. Each class is usually 20 UK credits, which is equivalent to 5 UMass credits. Three 20-credit modules per semester at QMU is a full-course load.
