Program Description:

Overview

Technion International’s Semester Abroad program offers foreign students from around the globe the opportunity to experience world class university education in Israel. Technion brings innovation, excellence, research and advanced scholarship to the fore during a single semester customized to meet students’ academic needs and interests. Students may choose from courses in a range of subjects and fields, all taught in English by Technion’s internationally respected faculty.

The Semester Abroad program also offers exciting social and cultural activities including trips, seminars and social events. Participants live on-campus with Israeli and international students and are fully integrated into life at Technion.


Academic Program

The Spring Semester Abroad offers a challenging and intensive course load which each student can tailor to meet their specific interests as well as ensuring students’ ability to meet specific pre-requisites or course requirements for their home universities or prospective graduate or advanced studies.

Full-time students typically take around 16- 20 credits per semester. One academic lecture hour (50 minutes) equals 1 credit point. One tutorial or one laboratory hour equals .5 credit points. Courses are given at the third and fourth year undergraduate level. Some involve off-site activities and visits to Israeli industry.


English language courses and semester programs are offered in the following fields:

- Biomedical Engineering (English & Hebrew)
- Civil & Environmental Engineering (English & Hebrew)
- Chemical Engineering (Only graduate level)
- Biotechnology  and Food Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering

For those fluent in Hebrew, there are also programs available in Aerospace Engineering; Architecture; Materials Science; Mathematics; Medicine; Physics

A select number of Humanities courses are also available. Additionally, students may enroll in an optional intense Hebrew language immersion course known as an ulpan.

A semester abroad at Technion International provides students with the tools and experience to excel in their future academic and professional careers.


Housing

Accommodation is within the student dorms, which include flats of 5 bed rooms and a shared kitchen and a bathroom. Bed rooms are equipped with a bed, a closet and a desk. No linen or kitchenware is provided. The dorm's rent is 1100 NIS/ 310$ per month. Dorms are limited and must be arranged at least three months in advance through the international school .
