We're excited that you're considering IFSA-Butler's Community Building and Sustainable Development summer program in Peru! While improving your Spanish, you'll have the opportunity to visit three of the most beautiful cities in Peru and volunteer with a local NGO.

  • In Lima student will stay with carefully selected host families in Upper middle class neighborhoods of Miraflores and San Isidro
  • In Piura and Moyobamba, students stay in shared rooms in hotels.
  • The program fee includes two meals per day.

    Any student applying to an IFSA-Butler program can apply for our general scholarship awards, which are $500 for a summer program, $1,500 for semester study, and $2,000 for the full year. We also offer special opportunities such as First Generation College Student scholarships and a Fill the GAP study abroad savings program that matches contributions up to $1,000. (b) IPO/UMass online application which can be started here .

3. Costs for this program can be found on the Partner Program website.
4. Create your online IPO account, if you have not already done this.
5. Visit the IPO Advising Center or IPO Peer Counselors in the Learning Commons.
6. Set up an appointment with an IPO Program Advisor.
7. Only UMass Amherst applicants can apply to this program through UMass IPO.
