Course Overview
Chinese Culture and Business is a three-credit course made up of on-campus seminars in the spring semester and a 14-day study abroad experience in China. Through readings, class discussions, a research paper, and a field trip to China, students will learn about Chinese culture and history, the emerging power of the Chinese economy in the world marketplace, and how current experts do business in China. The field trip will include several major cities such as: Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou. We will visit a number of businesses where students will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with local business experts, a number of local universities where students can get a better idea of Chinese culture from local buddies, as well as a number of famous cultural attractions (such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and West Lake) to experience Chinese history.

Dates and Details
This is a spring semester course, with class meetings in the spring, travel during the second half of May (tentative dates are May 17-31, 2018). Payment for airfare will be made directly by the student (accepted students will be notified on deadlines and payment information). Students will be required to make a $500 deposit upon application to the program, the balance of which will be due in March.
